Ayumi Shibata

In 2010, Ayumi started a series of works using paper, inspired by Japanese traditional nature worship.

The works show the message of coexistence regarding with the spirits relating to the human, animals and nature within a harmonious context. She tends to create her ideal world in the layered paper.

In 2013, Ayumi began making a series of book sculpture, cutting out images from sketch book to create a three-dimensional world by hand. It is the traces of actions of a paper, although each pages has different details like hidden houses, rooms and the story, which is creating the three-dimensional diorama.
